KIT
KARLSRUHE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

In this project, KIT will participate with the Steinbuch Centre for Computing (SCC), the Institute of Microstructure Technology (IMT), and with the Karlsruhe Nano Micro Facility (KNMF).

SCC Data Exploitation Methods (DEM) group’s research focuses on novel technologies for large-scale data
management and high-performance data analysis, which addresses the specific requirements of numerous disciplines, e.g., material science, climate research, and humanities.

IMT performs cutting edge research in the field of microtechnology, nanotechnology, and their embedding in systems. It focuses on establishing fundamental results, and drive these into applications, and towards ramping up production. It fosters the careers of excellent young scientists, whether for academia or industry.

KNMF is an open access Research Infrastructure which, since 2009, offers a portfolio of nano and micro
structuring and characterization technologies and expertise to the international research community. The KNMF technology experts serving the users are also active researchers in the Helmholtz Programme Science and technology of Nanosystems (STN).

Research in STN covers:

  1. Condensed Matter and Molecular Building Blocks,
  2. Nanomaterials - Function and Manufacturing which includes Functionality by design, catalysis and Printed materials and systems,
  3. optics and photonics.
