CNR-IOM is located in Basovizza, on the outskirts of Trieste, close to the border with Slovenia. It is served by Trieste airport*, which is only 46 km far and offers regular flights to Munich and London. The most important European hubs can also be accessed from Venice, Treviso and Ljubljana airports, which are also close.

On the TRIESTE-VENICE railway line, there is the new “TRIESTE AIRPORT” station, served every day by

By public transport
Regular city service buses (N. 51) travel from Trieste central railway station to the Elettra Campus, in AREA Science Park, Basovizza, Trieste. Here also CNR-IOM is located (Building Q2), which is about 10 km far from downtown Trieste. The bus stop line 51 is a 2 minute, 100 m walk from Piazza della Libertà (the square that faces the station) to Via Ghega 9. Tickets can be purchased at the newspaper kiosk or the automatic ticket machine in front of the railway station main entrance. Depending on traffic conditions, it takes about 20 to 25 minutes to reach the destination (16 stops). Get off at Comprensorio Sincrotrone Eletta. Timetables can be found here. Please be aware that "Feriale" refers to working days, "Festivo" to Sundays or National holidays (25/04, 1/05, 3/06, 1/11, 8/12) or City holidays (3/11). Note also that bus N. 39 stops in Basovizza (1.5 km from the lab) and only few rides, marked with “A”, reach the Campus.
