How to reach

The Instituto de Optica, IO-CSIC is located in the main campus of CSIC that is close to Nuevos Ministerios area (https://maps.app.goo.gl/wdA59mebP9S2YGdB6)). Entrance to the CSIC campus is via Calle Serrano 117. When you enter the campus, Instituto de Optica (Serrano 121) is the second building to the right.

The nearest METRO stations are:

  • República Argentina (exit to Juan de la Cierva street)
  • Nuevos Ministerios (exit to Castellana pares, even numbers of Castellana street)
  • Gregorio Marañon (exit to Castellana impares, odd numbers of Castellana street)

Buses:

The closest bus stop to the IO is “Residencia de estudiantes” stop number 445, where the following EMT bus lines stop: 16 (direction Moncloa), 19 (direction Legazpi) and 51 (direction Puerta del Sol-Sevilla).

HOW TO REACH MADRID FROM THE LOCAL AIRPORT (Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport)

Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport is located north-east of the city of Madrid. The airport is connected with the city center by public transport through several services. By Metro

The easiest way to reach Madrid downtown from the airport is by metro. L8 metro line connects the four terminals of the airport with Nuevos Ministerios metro station where you can take L6 metro line to República Argentina (exit to Juan de la Cierva Street). From there, IO is at 5 minutes walking distance. Alternatively, the Instituto de Optica can be reached by 10 minutes walking from Nuevos Ministerios (exit to Castellana pares, even numbers of Castellana Street). More information and timetable at:

By Bus

An express bus line (Line 203) is available 24 h from all terminals of the airport to Cibeles bus stop where you can take bus 51 up to Velázquez-Joaquín Costa bus stop. By Local trains

Lines C1 and C10 connects terminal T4 of the airport with Nuevos Ministerios train station where you can reach the IO either by walking or by taking L6 metro line to República Argentina, then 5 minutes walking to the CSIC campus in Serrano street. By Taxi

HOW TO REACH MADRID BY TRAIN

Madrid-Puerta de Atocha, located in the city center, and Madrid-Chamartin, located north of Madrid are the main train stations of Madrid. High-speed trains from Barcelona, Sevilla and Malaga as well as trains from some international destinations arrive at Madrid-Puerta de Atocha station, while high-speed trains from Valencia, Oviedo and Santiago de Compostela train lines arrive at Madrid-Chamartin station.
