Mechanical moduli

Nano to Micro/Macro (Rheology analysis)

The measurement of mechanical moduli of structured fluids such as suspensions, emulsions and polymeric solutions is performed with rotational rheometers. It is based on the application of small amplitude oscillations of shear stress and by measuring the corresponding shear strain, or vice versa. From these raw data the elastic (storage) G' and viscous (loss) G'' moduli can be obtained as function of the frequency of oscillation (mechanical spectra) that represent a fingerprint of the structure under investigation.
