ICMM hosts more than 400 researchers and is amongst the largest institutes within CSIC. Its research lines cover all aspects of materials science from fundamentals to applications, both from experimental and theoretical approaches. The research fields range from materials for energy and health to materials for optical and magnetic applications through nanoscience and nanotechnology. The Structure of Nanoscopic Systems group (ESISNA) is part of the ICMM and is devoted to understanding fundamental phenomena of low-dimensionality materials.
